Richmond Spiders Game Preview

Richmond Spiders 1-0

Richmond Starting Lineup:
G David Gonzalez Jr.
G Kevin Anderson Soph.
F Jarhon Giddings Sr.
F Justin Harper Soph.
F Kevin Smith Soph.

Key Bench Players:
F/C Josh Duinker Fr.
F Conor Smith Fr.
G/F Ryan Butler Jr.
G Francis-Cedric Martel Fr.

Previous Game: Richmond of the Atlantic 10 conference, won their first game 81-57 over Division 2 Randolph Macon. They dominated easily throughout the first half and sealed up the victory with a strong second half. The Spiders shot 9/23 from 3 with 6 different players making a trey.

Game Preview: Depending on what defense Cuse plays we will see Richmond switch from a Princeton type offense (v. man to man) or a 3 point shootout offense (v. zone). If Richmond starts hitting outside shots and different people get hot we could be in trouble. Kevin Anderson is the main threat from the outside, he had 17 points in their first game and shot 2 for 6 from 3. Another guy to watch out for from behind the arc is Ryan Butler, he played just 19 minutes in the last game but he had 12 points and made all 3 of his 3 point attempts. Richmond has a bigger lineup, so it'll be interesting to see how Onuaku does, and how well we rebound. Also, the spotlight will once again be on Devo and Rautins to see if they have made full recoveries from their injuries.

My Prediction: Cuse jumps out early to a double digit lead. Richmond gets it below double digits by halftime with some 3 point shooting. In the second half, Flynn takes over the game making steals and dishing out assists. We eventually pull away and win 79-66.

Final Score: 76-71 Syracuse
