Cleveland St. Vikings Game Preview

Cleveland ST. Vikings 6-4

Cleveland St. Starting Lineup:
G Norris Cole Soph.
G Cedric Jackson Sr.
G D'Aundray Brown Soph.
G/F J'Nathan Bullock Sr.
C Chris Moore Sr.

Key Bench Players:
F George Tandy Sr.
G Eric Schiele Soph.
G Jeremy Montgomery Fr.

Previous Game:  Cleveland St. defeated Marist 66-47 in their last game.  It was total domination throughout for them.  The offense was very balanced as 5 different players scored between 9-11 points.  J'Nathan Bullock was the leader with 11 points, 8 rebounds and 3 steals.

Game Preview:  The Vikings are a decent mid major team, probably just behind a very good Butler team in the Horizon.  They have a couple problems though.  They average just 61 ppg on offense, and they shoot an abysmal 25% from 3.  The way they have won games is their defense.  Cleveland St. will not have enough firepower on offense to beat Syracuse.  Expect Cleveland St. to force turnovers against turnover prone Syracuse, as they average 10 steals per game.  Expect a lot more 2-3 than normal, not only because the Vikings are a very poor 3 point shooting team, but it allows Cuse to prepare for another bad 3 point shooting team in Memphis when Cuse plays them Saturday.  Also, look to see how many minutes Mookie Jones gets, he got valuable time against Long Beach St. in the first half.  He had some nagging injuries and that's why he hadn't been playing much and now that it appears he's recovered we should see how the freshman can contribute.  Look to see Jonny Flynn bounce back after a less than stellar performance against Long beach State.  Of course, I cannot forget to mention the Devendorf saga, this the second game after the suspension and appeal.  Will the team respond as well as they did last Saturday?  I think so.

My Prediction:  Syracuse has too much offense and Cleveland St. just doesn't have enough.  I think Devo won't let the potential suspension effect him and he'll have another good game.  Expect to see the walk-ons again tomorrow.  Cuse wins 78-58.

Final Score: 72-69 Cleveland St.
